Newborn Photography FAQ

Should I do newborn pictures?
“They grow up so fast...”

As a parent, I am driven to honor the responsibility of documenting the milestones of my children's lives. Not only do I want to remember the moments for myself, but I also want to preserve memories so I can share them with my children later. Your child will feel important and loved when they discover their baby pictures.

How do I book a newborn photographer?
The first step is to reach out to me via EMAIL. We will discuss availability, PRICING, and your preferences. Let's see if we are a good fit for each other!

Once you decide to move forward with booking your due date, I will send a link to a contract and $50 retainer invoice. Everything is done online. It's easy!

In order to help me prepare for your session, I will have you fill out a NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY QUESTIONNAIRE.

I will also provide you with a handy NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY PREPARATION GUIDE.

How to prep for your newborn photos...
What to do and what to bring so that you have a positive experience and great images.

A few days before your session...
Arrange your home
I know that when you bring your baby home things get a little "exciting". You've prepared for 9 months and now you are ready for your newest family member. While you are settling into a routine, start thinking about how you want to handle the "clutter" in your home. This is stuff that you wouldn't want in the background of your photos. While I know that real life isn't picture perfect, it is helpful to remove distractions. In short, create a plan to declutter and "level up" your final images. My best advice is to find a large box to hold your miscellaneous "stuff". Put the box in a garage, basement, or spare bedroom.
Avoid gassy foods (if breastfeeding)
1-2 days beforehand avoid eating foods that will upset your baby.
-
Acidic foods – such as lemons, oranges, berries, pizza, spaghetti, chili, and tomato products.
-
Gassy vegetables – such as asparagus, onions, broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower.
-
Excessive caffeine
Prepare wardrobe
My best advice is to wear something light in color, especially if your home does not have a lot of natural light. I also suggest wearing something nicer than you would normally wear at home. Avoid graphic t-shirts, worn-out clothing, and smartwatches.
